Trent's Tracks: Through the Decades 9

Hello everyone and welcome to day 9 of Trent’s Tracks: Through the Decades.

Over the course of five weeks (October 24th – November 27th), I will be exploring some of the finest music from each of the last five decades (yes, that’s a whole week for each decade) with a brand new song being added to the list every single day. By the end of the five weeks, there will be 35 songs on the list for you to enjoy from throughout the last 46 years.

The second entry in our 1980s week is one of the best musical collaborations of all time.

The first of the two artists has already appeared on this list. Queen’s epic anthem Bohemian Rhapsody appeared at the end of 1970s week, when I spoke about how talented the group was, particularly the late Freddie Mercury.

Sadly, we have now also lost the other half of this collaboration. In January of this year, the world lost another great musical icon when David Bowie died at the age of 69. His death left the world stunned, and mourning for the loss of a truly amazing artist. Although it seems sad to talk about him in the past tense, we mustn’t forget what a huge legacy he has left behind. For nearly five decades, he gave the world hit after hit, including such songs as Space Oddity, Ashes to Ashes, and Heroes. He even had success as an actor too, starring in many hit films including the well-known Labyrinth.

This track brought these two amazingly talented acts together and created one of the most iconic collaborations in history. This song serves as a reminder to the world of the talent we have now sadly lost, but also of the incredible legacy that they have both left us.

Everyone, I give you Under Pressure, from Queen and David Bowie.

We continue looking at the 1980s with another song tomorrow, so look out for that and until then, keep positive, keep smiling, and above all else, keep believing!
