Trent's Tracks: Through the Decades 14

Hello everyone and welcome to part 14 of Trent’s Tracks: Through the Decades.

Over the course of five weeks (October 24th – November 27th), I will be exploring some of the finest music from each of the last five decades (yes, that’s a whole week for each decade) with a brand new song being added to the list every single day. By the end of the five weeks, there will be 35 songs on the list for you to enjoy from throughout the last 46 years.

It's Sunday, which means just like that we have come to the end of 1980s week. We have already gone through six of the greatest tracks from this epic decade, and there is only one song remaining.

This artist has already featured on this list, but such is their influence across the years that they have another entry on Through the Decades.

I spoke at length about Michael Jackson’s effect on music when I opened 1970s week with Don’t Stop Til You Get Enough, and the 1980s is when his career went stratospheric and launched him into the history books as one of the biggest artists of all time.

The Thriller album was released in 1982, and became the biggest-selling album ever, a record that still stands to this day. This world class album gave us seven singles, all of which were massive hits, including the likes of Human Nature, Beat It, and of course the unbelievable title track Thriller.

So, here is the greatest song from this album, and from this decade. Featuring an equally epic video with light-up paving slabs, here is Billie Jean, and I’m sure you’ll agree it deserves its status as a musical icon.

And there we have it, 1980s week is over. 7 days, 7 songs, one incredible decade. I would love to know what you think of this post, or of anything else I post about. Do you think that other songs/artists should have been on this list somewhere? If so, which ones?

You can let me know your thoughts through DMs on all of the social media links down below, or by simply leaving a comment.

Another new post is up tomorrow, as we carry on along our journey through the decades with the next stop the 1990s! Until then, keep positive, keep smiling, and above all else, keep believing!
