Trent's Tracks: Through the Decades 8

Hello everyone, happy Halloween and welcome once again to Trent’s Tracks: Through the Decades.

Over the course of five weeks (October 24th – November 27th), I will be exploring some of the finest music from each of the last five decades (yes, that’s a whole week for each decade) with a brand new song being added to the list every single day. By the end of the five weeks, there will be 35 songs on the list for you to enjoy from throughout the last 46 years.

We are in the second week of this journey, which means it’s time to leave the 1970s behind and begin our trip through the crazy era of the 1980s. Because there was so much great music and so many superstars emerged from this time, it was so difficult to narrow it down to just seven songs. This part of Through the Decades took the most time to sort out, and sadly many very famous artists don’t feature on this list, such was the level of talent to choose from. Without further ado, let’s get into the music and I hope you enjoy the next week!

This new decade kicks off with a very memorable tune from a group who found fame early on in the 80s, having 8 top 20 singles in the UK, two of them number ones, including this released in 1982.

This song is great, and who doesn’t love the crazy denim overalls they’re wearing? Just a glimpse of the whacky fashion sense the 80s would become known for.

Everyone, I give you Dexy’s Midnight Runners, and their 1982 number one Come On Eileen.

Don’t forget to come back tomorrow for another great 80s tune. Until then though, keep positive, keep smiling, and above all else, keep believing! (And stay safe whatever you’re doing over Halloween)
