The Witch's Familiar review

Warning! This post contains spoilers so if you haven’t seen the episode yet, please make sure you watch it before reading any further. This week, I want to focus on three important topics from episode 2. The first of these is the relationship between Davros and the Doctor, something which has become more complicated thanks to the events of these first two episodes. As explained in my episode 1 review, we’ve now discovered that the Doctor inadvertently saved Davros as a child, and it is possible that he indirectly created the Daleks by doing so. However, the twist to this comes at the end of episode 2 when the Doctor tells the young Davros that mercy is important. I have given this some thought and my theory is that this means if every Dalek was created with a concept of mercy, then they do in fact contain a part of the Doctor within them and that opens up a completely different can of worms which I may discuss in a later post. The next thing to take from this episode is th

New Social Media

This week, I wanted to have something to say about my placement year and hopefully kick off that series of posts. However, due to poor organisation (not mine) this has yet to be sorted so this will have to wait. Apologies if you guys were expecting me to start that this week but I will let you know when things sort themselves out. Now on to the positives. As the title probably suggests, I have decided to further expand the social media associated with this blog. There are not one, not two, but THREE new places you can follow me. YouTube Yes, now I believe I’ve spoken about this several times before, but I am in the process of sorting out my YouTube channel. It currently has my logo and a basic banner, but no videos at the moment. However, you guys can subscribe to it to let me know you’ve seen it and so you’ll know when I finally do put up a video on it. Wattpad As a writer, I feel as though this is a must-have in terms of social media. For those of you who have neve

The Magician's Apprentice review

Warning! This post contains spoilers so if you haven’t yet seen the episode, do not read ahead until you’ve had a chance to see it. Wow! This episode was so worth waiting for. I was hooked from the first minute to the last, I just could not take my eyes off it. So much happened and it has really got me excited about what the rest of the series holds. I really enjoyed the typical wackiness of the Doctor, characterised this time by his arrival on board a tank playing an electric guitar – in the 12 th century! Only in Doctor Who could this be acceptable and this is one of the many reasons why I still watch this show and continue to follow it in the dedicated way I do. One of the things the show also does incredibly well is to do the crazy events like this, but to have it interweaved with a much darker, much more serious main story which in this case was the return of Davros and the Daleks. I love the intricate plotline set up by the Doctor saving Davros as a child, and then

Changes

Today’s post is about the changes I am about to make to this blog. First things first, my schedule is changing. From now on, I will still be posting on Friday but instead of Monday, I will be posting on Sunday. This is to accommodate a new series of posts which I will explain about later in this post. I know you guys will like the changes, especially when I reveal the reason why later on. What these changes do mean is that my colours series, which I usually post about on Monday, is being put ON HOLD. It will return in the future, so don’t think of it as over by any means and I will let you know when it comes back. My life updates posts on Fridays will also be different from next week because of the start of my placement year of university. I am planning on using these posts as a way of documenting this experience and of allowing you all in on this incredible journey I am about to embark upon. It is going to be a way of telling you about all of the ups and downs so that I c

One week, Two Milestones.

This week has been absolutely crazy for me. On Monday, this blog hit 1000 pageviews. When this blog started back in February, I had no idea that it would ever get to this point, let alone getting there in under seven months! It always puts a smile on my face when I find that my pageviews have risen even by one. I am so grateful and always will be to all of you who have taken the time to read any of my posts here over the last seven months and to those of you who will ultimately read the posts that are yet to come. Thank you all so much. I have never stopped appreciating the support you guys give me and I am spurred on to keep posting because of that support. Also this week, my followers on Twitter have passed 100. Once again, I never expected this to ever happen and am so grateful for all of you guys. My followers mean the world to me and I never take any of you for granted. Those of you who have been following me for a while might remember that I set myself a series o

White

Even though I am such a creative person, I have rarely shown that side to my personality on here. That is why I decided to start this series of posts about colour and the way I think about and use colour in my projects and in my day-to-day life. I hope you like these posts and can take some inspiration from this series.  This time, I’m looking at white. I know that there are some of you out there right now who are of the belief that white is in fact not a colour at all. For me, this couldn’t be further from the truth. In the same way that silence is used as a technique when making music, white is used as a technique when it comes to colour. It is in fact an amazing colour despite the fact that it doesn’t have a spectrum of shades like most other colours seemingly do. There are so many reasons why white is a good choice in design. It provides a crisp, fresh look to whatever it is being used on and can make things seem clean. Not only that, but it doesn’t overcomplicate

Writing song lyrics

As it says in my Twitter bio, I describe myself as an aspiring writer. Writing makes up a massive part of my life and is something I love doing and have hope to do professionally one day. I write both long and short stories as well as poetry. However, today I’m going to talk about another type of writing I used to do. Back when I was around fourteen, I began writing my own song lyrics. Despite the fact that I had no music to go with them, I was incredibly proud of this part of my life. I know that at one stage, I had somewhere between twenty and thirty sets of lyrics in folders on my computer and in binders in my bedroom. They were my way of expressing the deep feelings, both positive and negative, that I was going through at the time, but also they were my method of dealing with all of the experiences of that time in my life. Looking back, they probably weren’t the greatest lyrics in the world but at the time, they were the best means of coping with any problems I had.   Now,
