Hello everyone and welcome to the last instalment of Trent’s Tracks: Through the Decades. Over the course of five weeks (October 24 th – November 27 th ), I will be exploring some of the finest music from each of the last five decades (yes, that’s a whole week for each decade) with a brand-new song being added to the list every single day. By the end of the five weeks, there will be 35 songs on the list for you to enjoy from throughout the last 46 years. We have now come to the last track on this list. The song I have chosen to draw this journey to an end is one of the catchiest songs from the last few years, in addition to being one of the highest selling. It has truly become a worldwide sensation, with the video (at the time of writing) getting close to 2 billion hits on YouTube. It brought together two very talented acts in Mark Ronson, and Bruno Mars, and it produced a piece of music magic. Get ready to get up and dance, here is the sensational Uptown Funk, to fin...

Wow! That is it! After 5 weeks, our incredible musical journey Through the Decades has come to an end! What an incredible series this has been. Over the course of the last month or so, we have passed through nearly fifty years of music, and have featured many iconic artists. From Michael Jackson to Maroon 5, ABBA to Adele, the Bee Gees to Bruno Mars, with many more in between, it has been an amazing time, and I am so glad to have shared some of my favourite songs from the last five decades with you guys. Not only that, but I have loved doing the Trent’s Tracks series throughout this year. Sadly, there will be no more Trent’s Tracks until the new year now, but you have a huge list of great songs available on my Spotify for you to listen to. By the end of the five weeks, there will be 35 songs on the list for you to enjoy from throughout the last 46 years. There are now only two songs left before Through the Decades ends. Another brilliant young talent takes up the penultimate position on this list. He has not only become one of the world’s brightest new stars, but he has also worked with the likes of Taylor Swift, Pharrell, and One Direction. Over the last few years, he has had a string of fantastic hits including Sing, The A Team, and Photograph. For someone who used to busk, he has done incredibly well for himself. This is Ed Sheeran, with Thinking Out Loud , the video to whi...

By the end of the five weeks, there will be 35 songs on the list for you to enjoy from throughout the last 46 years. Over the past few years, this group has become my favourite new talent to emerge from the UK, and I’m not going to lie, I am slightly obsessed with them. I heard this song for the first time in a club, and instantly I was hooked on it, and on the group who created it. I give you Years and Years with one of my favourite tracks of the last two years. Over the course of the last few years, he has had many hits thanks to collaborations with some of the world’s best artists. These include the likes of Usher, Ne-Yo, and Rihanna amongst many others. Back in 2011, he released this song, which introduced the world to the amazing talent that is Sia, who has since gone on to have huge success in her own right. Who could forget this track? Adele has grown in the last few years to become a global superstar, with massive-selling hits such as Rolling In The Deep, Set Fire to the Rain, and Hello. From 2011, I give you Someone Like You. As a bonus, I have given you both the official music video, and her performance from the 2011 Brit Awards, when she stole the show with this song. Hello everyone and welcome to another Trent’s Tracks: Through the Decades. When deciding which artists should be on this list, I came to a realisation. It became clear to me that today’s artist has been so influential globally since they rose to fame in 2011, that it would be ridiculous not to include them. Five British lads who came third on The X Factor in 2010 released their first single in 2011, and never looked back as they grew to become the biggest boyband on the planet. Success after success, hit after hit, high-selling album after high-selling album, One Direction have been one of this decade’s bi...

By the end of the five weeks, there will be 35 songs on the list for you to enjoy from throughout the last 46 years. We are now in the last decade of this journey – the 2010s – which means just one week and seven songs left before the end of Through the Decades. Kicking off this final week is a song from 2012, the year I finished my A Levels and began university. I remember this song so well from that summer, because it was EVERYWHERE. Although I did not like it initially, it grew on me and became one of my favourites from that time in my life. Here is Carly Rae Jepsen with Call Me Maybe. Carly Rae Jepsen Call Me Mayb...

Hello everyone and welcome to the next Trent’s Tracks: Through the Decades. We have now reached the end of 2000s week. There is just one track left, and what a track it is. Ever since her emergence in the late 1990s, Christina Aguilera has grown to become one of the world’s bestselling female artists, giving us huge hits like Dirrty, Hurt, and Genie in a Bottle. This song is without a shadow of a doubt her best, and is an iconic piece of music, which shows off her incredible voice, and makes me truly appreciate the talent that Aguilera is. Reportedly recorded in just one take, Beautiful (what an apt ...

Hello everyone and welcome back to Trent’s Tracks: Through the Decades. Over the course of five weeks (October 24 th – November 27 th ), I will be exploring some of the finest music from each of the last five decades (yes, that’s a whole week for each decade) with a brand new song being added to the list every single day. By the end of the five weeks, there will be 35 songs on the list for you to enjoy from throughout the last 46 years. We now have just two songs left of the new millennium’s first decade, and today I am throwing back to a band I remember so well from being a child. Busted were a huge group in the early 2000s, with several big hits including Sleeping With the Light On, Crashed the Wedding , and What I Go to School For which appeared on the regular Trent’s Tracks earlier this year. For me, they are one of the acts I remember most from my childhood, and I remember listening to their music and just loving it. They went their separate ways in 2004, but h...

Today’s song is truly a beautiful track, with a sensational set of lyrics and an incredible video to match. I’m sure you will all agree that this is a true masterpiece of music.
